Walk On The Beach

Blow out the candles and turn off the lights.

Try to let the memories die this time,

No reason left to fight.

Take one last walk on the beach.

Retracing footsteps of the past,

Pondering failed attempts at peace.

Hear the whispers calling on the wind.

Stories echo hollow in my chest,

Laments the death of a once dear friend.

The things I was so thankful for,

Tenets of a forgotten faith.

Lost to the tides forevermore.

Darkness holds a cold embrace.

Though I tried as I thought best,

The fate I have made cannot be escaped.

The totality of choices left drifting on the sea.

Pay the ferryman his coin,

I was always just a memory.

You’ve Got Red On You

All the pretentious accolades,

Of your falsified reality.

Bought into the chaos,

And the lies that you told me.

Cut my eyes out,

Forced myself to never see.

Sat on your throne,

Watched a soul slowly bleed.

Flames smothered in silence,

Relive the past as something new.

Never questioned the poison,

Played my part right on cue.

Broken reflections,

Kept doing what you do.

Can’t escape who you are,

You’ve got red on you.

Background

Fade into the background,

Like mist in the night.

Take my place in silence,

Though I know it’s not right.

Only seen when things fall into place.

Accessory to the well spun lie.

Time takes years away,

Each day a little more of me dies.

No Tomorrow

What if there is no tomorrow,
No someday on the horizon?
Can you feel alive again,
Even if there is no time left to borrow?

If you could live like you’re dying,
What would that be like?
Lay down in the same ditch as before,
Or stand up and go out trying?

Nothing is ever a guarantee,
No promises of another day.
Take the chance and see what happens,
Believe and see what might be.

Devil On My Shoulder

I’m done with perceived sins,

Devil on my shoulder’s my only friend.

The only one left, who stuck around.

Not all who wander want to be found.

Patience was the name of the game.

Till I understood it would just be more of the same.

Playing by my own rules now.

Nothing will ever again, chain me down.

Life’s a dirty looking glass.

Can’t tell the reflection staring back.

Keep putting one foot in front of another.

Trust broken , you don’t need to bother.

Pick myself up once again,

Tonight a new story will begin.

I won’t be lost in the river of time.

Reclaim myself and all that’s mine.

Fading Away

Maybe it’s time to fade away.

Let go of all the sorrow and pain.

Drift into long wanted slumber,

No reason left to stay.

Release all the weight I’ve been under.

No nerves left to fray,

Nothing more to endlessly ponder.

Through the stars to eternally wander.

After Knowing

After knowing what I now know

After all the promises of feelings and gold

After the ease with flames turned cold

After affection was simple to withhold

After all this, it should be easier to let go.
